Episode 11 - Andrea Yates

Episode 11 - Andrea Yates

“Depression is such a cruel punishment. there are no fevers, no rashes, no blood tests to send people scurrying into concern, just the slow erosion of self, as insidious as cancer. And like cancer, it is essentially a solitary experience; a room in hell with only your name on the door”
-Martha Manning
“It was the seventh deadly sin. My children weren't righteous. They stumbled because I was evil. The way I was raising them they could never be saved. They were doomed to perish in the fires of hell.”  - Andrea Yates
On June 20, 2001, Andrea Yates became a household name as the news of what she had done spread like wildfire.
The mother of five drowned her children one by one in their suburban home in Houston, TX.
Somewhat quietly suffering from postpartum depression and psychosis, Andrea Yates committed the worst of killings.
